City of Tiffin Purchases Year Round Skating Rink

Today, Tiffin Mayor Lee W. Wilkinson announced that the City of Tiffin will be adding an “iceless” skating rink at Oakley Park in late fall, with the feature to open Dec. 8, during the weekend of the Kris Kringle Market. This initiative represents a dynamic public/private partnership between the City of Tiffin, the Parks Department, and Operation Hallmark Inc. 

“This project is a testament to what we can achieve when we collaborate and pool our resources for the greater good of our community,” Wilkinson said. 

Named the Sutton Bank Rink at Oakley Park, the rink utilizes a state-of-the-art design that allows people to skate using regular commercial ice skates at any time of the year, regardless of temperature and without the need for chillers. Residents can bring their own skates or rent skates for a small fee. 

The project has been a collaborative effort, with significant contributions from Tiffin Parks Director Bryce Kuhn and Christy Wiser, president of Operation Hallmark Inc. As well as many private donations, and major sponsors include and the major sponsors include Sutton Bank Charitable Fund and the White Family Charitable Fund via Tiffin Community Foundation, Reineke Family Dealerships, Mary Jo & Bob SanGregory and Clouse Construction. 

“We are excited to have this feature at Oakley Park to benefit our whole community,” said Jodie Reinbolt, Executive Director of the Tiffin Community Foundation.
