General Online Security info

Sutton Bank reminds all customers to please practice "safe" computing. The number and sophistication of phishing and spoofing scams sent out to consumers is continuing to increase dramatically and we ask you to be aware of fraudulent activity which involves requesting your bank information. Email is the most prominent form of scams, but if you receive a call, text or email asking you to provide your personal information, account numbers, credit/debit card number, PIN's, social security number or internet banking login credentials, please disregard the message or hang up on the caller. You should only give out this type of information if YOU originate the contact and only when you are sure of the party you are communicating with. As a word of warning… new scams include the caller dialing your phone number and hanging up --- hoping you will call them back as if you initiated the call and then they proceed to ask you for personal information…. Beware. If you believe you have compromised your account or access credentials, please contact your local Sutton Bank location and speak to a personal banker. Sutton Bank does not contact their customers asking for personal information such as your PINs, passwords, social security numbers and account numbers. If you receive an email, text or call, and have given out this type of information inadvertently, please contact us immediately to alert us of the situation.

ONLINE BANKING SECURITY

Sutton Bank takes online banking security seriously and is doing its part to safeguard your personal information when you access your accounts online. Our internet banking solution requires the use of various layers of security depending on how and where you access your account information online. We encourage you to access the internet banking from the Suttonbank.com website only as that is the most up to date login page maintained. We also encourage you to become familiar with the URL (A URL is the address of a specific Web site or file on the Internet) so you can ensure you are accessing the proper site before entering your credentials. Part of the security is the enrollment process that requires each customer to create a User ID and Password that's known only to them.

Online Banking is extremely secure. Sutton Bank's internet banking uses Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology to encrypt your personal information such as User IDs, passwords and account information over the Internet. Online banking acts as a secure "lock box" for your personal account information by incorporating the following.

  • Your browser must be equipped with 128-bit encryption.
  • We guard our computers with a firewall.
  • We verify that only you can log in. If you enter your online banking password incorrectly three times while trying to log in, we immediately lock your online banking access until you contact us and your password is reset.
  • Enhanced Login Security identifies you as the true "owner" of your accounts by recognizing your password and your computer. If we don't recognize your computer - say you've logged in from a new computer or removed cookies from your existing web browser - we use out of band authentication (phone) or you will be prompted to answer "challenge questions" to gain access.
