Sutton Bank Donates $5,000 to New London Food Pantry

Sutton Bank is proud to announce a $5,000 donation to support the newly established New London Schools Community Food Pantry, a collaborative initiative between New London Local Schools and Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio. The pantry is dedicated to addressing food insecurity among students and families in the New London School District, where more than 52% of students qualify for free or reduced-price meals.

The New London Schools Community Food Pantry provides direct access to nutritious food for local families, ensuring that children facing financial hardship have consistent access to essential resources. Sutton Bank’s contribution will support the pantry’s ongoing operations and food purchases, helping reduce barriers to adequate nutrition and fostering greater stability for low- to moderate-income families in the community.

The pantry is located within the district’s Community Outreach Building, which also houses the Boys & Girls Club. The facility offers after-school and summer programming, free of charge, for students from New London and surrounding areas. In addition to academic intervention and STEM programming, participants receive a hot meal each day, creating a vital connection between educational support and nutritional well-being.

“At Sutton Bank, we believe that strong communities are built on collaboration and compassion,” said Tony Gorrell, CEO of Sutton Bank. “We are proud to support the New London Schools Community Food Pantry and its efforts to ensure that every child has access to nutritious food and the opportunity to thrive, both inside and outside the classroom.”

Ashley Hudson, Director of Family & Community Outreach with New London Local Schools, expressed appreciation for the bank’s support.

“We are so grateful to Sutton Bank for their generosity and belief in our mission,” said Hudson. “This donation will help us keep our shelves stocked and continue providing families with the food and resources they need. It’s an incredible example of how local partnerships can make a lasting impact.”
